Homemade sauce is a complex summer ritual because it is made up of many small, more hidden, unknown and personal rituals, which add up and coordinate for a single collective purpose, that of once again generating the tomato puree that will then be consumed for the rest of the year.

This is not an illustrated recipe for making homemade sauce, but rather a story of when this happens.
